Magnussen Ponte Mactan Stone Coffee Table

Asymmetrical oval-shaped coffee table. The work of designer Magnussen Ponte, circa 1980. This table consists of a wooden frame (making it lighter than it appears) covered with Mactan stone in the shape of rough-edged bricks and a smooth, two-tiered top. Mactan stone, also known as fossil stone, is found only on the island of Mactan in the Philippines. This ancient rock contains fossils of prehistoric creatures that once inhabited the reefs. Origin: Italy A rare designer piece with a superb minimalist architectural style. Condition: Good condition, note some small chips on the corners; see photos for details.
