Japan shelf 1960-70 vintage

This small storage unit is in the shape of a miniature cabinet. The doors evoke those of a temple. The panels of the doors and slides in the upper part are treated according to the shou-sugi-ban: burning of wood on the surface which gives an irregular aesthetic effect. => it thus has the "wabi sabi" aspect dear to the japanese: it is a spiritual and aesthetic concept, derived from zen buddhist principles. "wabi" means, simplicity, melancholy, nature - "sabi" is the alteration of time, the taste of old things, the patina of objects. Softwood - plywood bottom. Some wear and scratches, small shocks.
