A stoneware pitcher with a chamotte glaze, a handcrafted piece thrown in a French workshop during the 1960s–1970s, characteristic of the modernist revival of stoneware during this period. Its slender silhouette—rounded body, narrow, elongated neck, and small, pinched spout—testifies to meticulous pottery work, while the slightly irregular ribbon handle confirms its entirely handmade character. The deep brown glaze is speckled with copper and golden highlights, achieved through a special glazing technique and firing in a slightly reducing atmosphere. The piece is unstamped, as was often the case for utilitarian pieces sold in workshop shops during this period. Attributable provenance: Work of an independent potter from central France, probably the Puisaye region – Saint-Amand / La Borne / Cluny, circa 1965–1975. Excellent vintage condition, glaze intact, no chips. Height: 20.5 cm, maximum diameter 11.5 cm, base diameter 6.5 cm Perfect for enhancing a wabi-sabi ambiance.
