Cup on foot by the potter Jean Varoqueaux, Workshop "Poterie Périgordine", 1960s, Satin black glossy glaze, with orange flamed effects on the upper part of the cup, It can be assumed that this ceramic was made at the time when Pol Chambost came to work with Jean and Louisette Varoqueaux in their workshop in Dordogne, sharing techniques. The characteristic glossy black glaze of Pol Chambost and the diffuse and flamed orange glazes mastered by Jean Varoqueaux are recognisable. The ceramic workshop "Poterie Périgordine" run by Jean Varoqueaux was active from 1948 to 1976 in Lembras near Bergerac in Dordogne. Diameter of the top of the cup 19.7 cm. Total height 13 cm. Diameter of the base of the cup's foot 11.3 cm. In very good condition, no chips or cracks. The very slight marks on the glossy black surface are original (like water droplet marks (?)- see last photo) and are only visible very closely depending on the light orientation. Carefully packaged.
