Description
Very nice box also used as a pillow in japanese culture, early 20th century. It is black lacquered and decorated with hand-painted golden floral motifs. The copper latch is beautifully chiseled with a flower and an eagle, as well as the support of the flower-shaped latch. To support the box, two handles are arranged on one side each. The lid is flexible, so that you can rest your head in it. On top is glued a leaf with very well executed golden decorations, representing a warrior on his horse in a frame of leaves. When the box is opened, a leather strap is nailed to the left side, allowing the lid to be held. Inside, a brown paper with red and black japanese inscriptions is glued.
