Rattan bench chest wicker and wood

This delightful braided rattan bench chest, dating from the 50s or 60s, has many advantages: its magnificent rattan braiding with some turquoise lacquered strands and its pretty shape with large handles gives it an undeniable charm. It is very practical because it combines sitting and a nice storage space while being lightweight. It consists of a structure made of solid wood cleats, a plywood board at the bottom, fine medium on the sides and top, covered with rattan braiding. It is solid, an adult can sit on it without problem. I cleaned it with great care: first a meticulous dusting with brush and vacuum cleaner, then cleaning with white vinegar and brush, and a hint of antique wax. It had a dozen broken horizontal strands including 4 or 5 in the same place forming a small hole. I repaired it by inserting recovered strands on a seat of an unusable antique chair. It is therefore in good general condition for its age: solid, no more broken strands, the turquoise paint is still present, the hinges are functional, the interior is very clean, but obviously it does not hide its age: there are various marks, a little superficial corrosion on the hinges, a few strands of wicker a little eliminated, and the varnish that I imagine was originally supposed to cover it entirely, has almost disappeared. I did not want to revarnish it to keep this beautiful patina that makes its vintage charm, but it is always possible to do it later, it's up to you. On the other hand, I passed varnish on the feet (almost invisible when the bench is placed on the ground) to protect them from moisture and thus be able to use it more easily in a bathroom. It measures 55 cm wide, 36 cm deep, 37 cm seat height, and 51 cm high at the handles. It weighs about 4 kg. I offer some deliveries, do not hesitate to ask me for a quote.
