Spectacular sculptural ashtray/tray made from a thick block of natural slate. Its free geometric design, deliberately raw contours, and significant mineral mass give it a distinctly brutalist aesthetic, characteristic of the 1960s-1970s taste for natural materials and architectural forms. The central part is hollowed out into a wide circular bowl of approximately 11 cm, with machining revealing subtle concentric circles. Slate from Trélazé in Maine-et-Loire, depending on provenance. Dimensions: approximately L 25 × D 25 × H 4 cm. Bowl: Ø 11 cm. The underside is covered with a red textile protection, allowing this heavy piece to be placed on a surface without damaging it. In very good vintage condition, showing the irregularities, veining, and small marks inherent to a naturally worked stone. A very beautiful utilitarian sculpture, which can be used as a tray, ashtray, jewellery bowl, or simply as a decorative object.
