Pair of large danish ceramic table lamps, circa 1960-70. Sculptural lamp bases in glazed stoneware, blue with green/brown colour effects. Model no. 1070, manufactured by søholm stentøj on the island of bornholm, denmark. Design probably by einar johansen. Søholm stentøj, meaning soholm stoneware, was founded in 1835 by herman sonne wolffsen and edvard sonne. The name søholm comes from the factory where both founders were employed, a pottery near copenhagen, in 1828-1839. It was the oldest factory in operation on bornholm, a danish island off the southern coast of sweden, until it closed in 1996. In the mid-20th century, søholm produced a wide range of stoneware in various patterns and shapes. Several designers worked for søholm stentøj, including einar johansen, maria philippi, noomi backhausen and others. The lamps are signed with the manufacturer's brand. They come with new cylindrical lampshades. New electrification. Diameter of the lampshade: 25 cm. Total height with lampshade: 69 cm. Height of the lamp base with socket: 43 cm.
