It is a type of porcelain stoneware, a fine, opaque, glazed stoneware called "fire porcelain". This ceramic is best known for the very wide variety of its models. It is the subject of the craze of collectors. In 1789, two brothers of the revol family, joseph-marie and françois, discovered in the town of saint-barthélemy-de-vals, at a place called douévas, a kaolino-feldspathic sand quarry that allowed them to create two fine sandstone factories, in ponsas and then in saint-uze in 1800. The production diversifies with white or beautiful brown culinary objects. The paris exhibition of 1806 rewarded these products for the quality of their enamel and their strength.
