Large green display cabinet with sliding doors – two-part buffet, 219 cm

An impressive two-part display cabinet or buffet cabinet of over two metres wide, painted in a soft sage green. The upper section has three glazed sliding doors, each with nine panes, and a moulded cornice; behind them are white-painted shelves. The lower section has four drawers in the centre with classic bail handles, flanked on each side by a pair of lockable doors, and stands on round bun feet. This type of large glazed cabinet was used in the late 19th and early 20th century as a shop cabinet, kitchen cabinet or china cabinet. Inside the lower section, the wood is still in its original red-brown colour. The upper section is 28 cm deep; four shelves fit on each side. Each of the two side cupboards in the lower section has three shelves. Large display cabinets with sliding doors have become rare, especially in this width and with drawers and cupboards in the base. The cabinet offers an enormous amount of storage and is at the same time a stage for china, glass, pottery or books. The calm green colour and the rhythmic division of the panes give it a light appearance, despite its size. Beautiful in a country or brocante interior, in a large kitchen-diner or dining room, but also as a statement piece in a boutique, shop or practice. The cabinet comes in two parts, making it easy to transport and install. Condition: good, used condition. The cabinet was later repainted green, including over the handles. On the front rail between base and top an open joint in the moulding and slight paint damage; otherwise minor signs of use and small marks in the paint. Glass and sliding doors complete original, two have a crack.
