Gabbeh rugs are often patterned and not particularly detailed. However, they are the most famous nomadic carpets in iran. Gabbeh carpets are knotted by nomads of the ghashghai tribe in fars province in iran. The basic material is hand-spun wool, which is then dyed with natural colorsobtained from plants and minerals. In persian, gabbeh means raw or natural. The perfect name for these nomadic rugs, whose design is normally limited to the essentials. The carpet is often a simple plant or animal motif, such as camels or trees. These motifs are inspired by the daily life of the nomads in the surrounding area. On this amazing model, with fantastic design, one could believe in an abstract art carpet inspired by the works of kandinsky, miro... This carpet is indeed a persian carpet, made by an inspired craftsman-artist ! Very nice polychromy. Dimensions: 210x145 cm. Condition: on the upper part of the carpet, some stains, wear and wool replacement (see the last 3 photos), slightly visible if you look at the whole carpet. The carpet was professionally washed.
