Mario Marenco designed this pair of coffee tables for Mobil Girgi in the early 1970s, during a time when Italy was producing some of its finest solid wood furniture. The top is made of walnut slats alternating between light and dark shades, framed by a thick band with rounded edges. The solid legs with a softened rectangular section follow the same principle — solid wood, without metal or glass. The lacquered finish reveals the grain of the walnut and gives the whole piece a dense and warm presence. In very good condition. A slight circular mark on one of the two tops, absorbed by the patina. Sourced in Florence. Almost square format (90 × 93.5 cm, H 36.5 cm), to be positioned facing each other or offset depending on the space. A rare pair in this condition.
