Gaston Relens oil painting

Superb painting by the Belgian painter Gaston Relens (Mechelen 1909 - Schaerbeek 2011) entitled "The Races" His artistic training took place with Gustave van de Woestijne and Anto Carte. In 1937 he won the first prize for painting with the highest distinction and the gold medal from the Belgian government for his work The Battle of Woeringen. The themes of his work are: the solitude of people in large cities, paradise lost, the work of man over the seasons. We often find a symbolic, expressionist and sometimes even dreamlike side. This painting is marked by the richness of its blue tones. It is also listed in one of the monographs dedicated to him.
