Carlo Marchesotti was an Italian-Argentine sculptor born in 1944 in Italy and died in 1988 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After settling in Argentina and adopting Argentine citizenship, he studied at the Manuel Belgrano National School of Fine Arts. From 1967 onwards, he participated in individual and collective exhibitions in Argentina and Italy. He notably exhibited at the Salon of the Mutuality of Students and Graduates of Fine Arts in 1977, the Santa Fe Salon in 1971 and 1977, the National Salon in 1978, as well as the Encuentro de Pinamar in 1978. Among his distinctions, he received the Correa Morales Prize for sculpture at the Municipal Salon in 1969, the Government Ministry Prize at the Santa Fe Salon in 1971, the first prize at the San Fernando Salon in 1974, the first prize at the National Salon in 1978, and the Grand Honor Prize at the National Salon in 1979. Marchesotti notably worked with Carrara marble from the province of San Luis.
