2 original fiberglass chairs by designer helmut bätzner, 60s. The bofinger chair, model ba1171 by helmut bätzner is the first one-piece molded plastic chair (monobloc). Its production in press of ten tons with two molds (prepreg process) lasts less than five minutes and does not require any manual work. Its hollow and curved surfaces as well as its feet in a doubly angular shape give it its solidity. Polyester resin is tinted in several very marked colors. The bofinger chair is lightweight, mobile, stackable and weatherproof. Helmut bätzner, in collaboration with the bofinger company, which specialises in the manufacture of polyester resin plates, undertook numerous research and testing projects. The chair was originally presented at the cologne furniture fair in 1966. It will then be produced in several million copies as community equipment and garden furniture. The originals have the logo and signature "bofinger-produktion" under the seat.
