Superb craftsmanship on this 19th-century solid walnut sideboard. A piece of Faubourg style, as it is a Louis XVI style piece, made using traditional methods. The wood is splendid, the workmanship top-notch. On the top, resting on the thick pink marble slab and screwed to the back, a beveled, semicircular mirror is framed in walnut with a hand-carved foliate pediment. Two areas where pitting has occurred form small, rather dreamlike mosaics which, far from diminishing the charm of this original mirror, accentuate its beauty and depth. The marble is magnificent, very thick and dense – in shades of pink, with rounded corners and a small molding around the edge. It is in impeccable condition. The lower section opens with two drawers with walnut fronts, each adorned with two gilt bronze handles. Above, the two doors open to reveal an original oak veneer shelf. The two locks, two keys, and two gilt keyhole escutcheons are original and in perfect working order. Note the numerous floral carvings in the wood, which create interesting contrasts with the walnut. There is also a beautiful lower plinth with a rich patina, and the two toupie feet at the front. The patina is original, and apart from minor signs of wear, the piece is solid, sound, stable, and in excellent condition. It comes from the same house in the 77th district, which was furnished with late 19th-century furniture (including the mirrored wardrobe and the curved chests of drawers). A superb piece whose vintage character will add a touch of spice to any modern décor. W: 129 cm. H: 164 cm. D: 48 cm. Mirror: 125 X 56 cm. Lower section: 105 cm high. The price is firm, thank you. Delivery in the Île-de-France region and ground floor delivery possible for 40 euros.
