This large and heavy sommerso vase, with a center part of blue glass encased in a layer of yellow/green glass, further encased in clear glass, is bearing the original foil label, slightly discolored from red to silver.the text on the label is difficult to identify with the naked eye, but with a strong magnifying glass and by comparing similar labels of other Pustetto & Zanetti glass objects, the conclusion is unambiguous. Text on the label: arte nuova Murano, grand prize, genuine Venetian glass, world fair Bruxelles 1958. I do not know how things were organized on the 1958 world fair in Bruxelles but I guess this vase was part of a display of exhibition pieces that could be purchased on the fair for a later delivery. The Arte Nuova Murano glass works were founded on Murano in 1954 by Itamo Pustetto and Lizio Zanetti. The company was famous for its cased sommerso designs, most of which were designed by Pustetto, Nino d'Este and Aldo Fuga. The factory closed in 1968. This vase is in excellent condition, no damages, no cracks, no chips, no fleabites, no lime residues, only hardly visible traces of wear and age. Will be shipped as first class priority airmail, insured, registered, signed for, with track and trace.
