Magneto floor lamp by H. Fillekes for Artifort, Netherlands, 1956

Here is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most innovative and rare floor lamps of post-war Dutch design: the Magneto floor lamp, designed by H. Fillekes and manufactured by Artifort in 1956. Produced during a remarkably short period, between 1954 and 1958, and handcrafted in limited quantities, this floor lamp is a true collector's item and a testament to mid-20th century design history, increasingly difficult to find on the market. The Magneto is renowned for its ingenious mechanism: a powerful magnetic ball joint connecting the balancing arm to the base, allowing the floor lamp to be oriented in virtually any direction. This innovative system, ahead of its time, enables free rotation of the lamp, with the arm adjustable in height, length, and depth, making it not only a sculptural masterpiece but also an exceptionally functional reading lamp. This floor lamp has been inspected and cleaned in our workshop and is ready for use in the United States. An adapter is provided to preserve its integrity.
