Mari Simmulson ceramic bowl

Ceramic cup signed mari simmulson (1911-2000) still bearing its sticker from the swedish factory of upsala ekeby. Character decoration with flowers and incisions, both in raw earthenware and enameled. Mari simmulson was born in st petersburg, trained as a ceramicist in tallinn, estonia in the 1930s, she also studied sculpture in munich. She emigrated to sweden before the war and subsequently became one of the most influential ceramists at the upsala ekeby factory where she designed very colorful utilitarian and decorative pieces.
