Signed and dated lower right by the artist. 1989 around 1990, henri matchavariani produced a whole series of fashion designs with clothes inspired by thierry mugler. Henri matchavariani (born in 1939) is a french painter, calligrapher and illustrator of georgian and romanian origin. He was artistic director in paris and milan. He has produced numerous illustrations for the press (vogue) and advertising campaigns, notably for air france. He worked closely with helmut newton on a project for cacharel. His art is guided by the elegance of the line and by imaginative flight gestures, inspired by the orient. His calligraphy corresponds to that of christian dotremont.
