Rare Scandinavian daybed by Kurt Østervig, model 311, in teak, circa 1960. A major designer of Danish modernism, Kurt Østervig is widely recognised for the quality of his lines, the balance of his proportions, and the refinement of his creations. Østervig is a renowned designer. His mid-20th century works are highly sought after and achieve impressive results at auctions as well as in vintage design galleries around the world. This piece has been appraised by Piasa and referenced in the "Scandinavian Design" catalogue (November 2023). It also bears a stamped metal plate certifying its authenticity and official production number. Designer: Kurt Østervig (1912-1986). He participated in the Milan Triennale in the 1950s and exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in the 1960s, securing his place among the great names of post-war Danish design.
