This elegant pair of royal blue glass vases, DARKER THAN IN THE PHOTOS, is decorated with an enameled poppy flower design. The neck and base are rimmed in gold and the body is enriched with a gilded filigree foliage motif. They are characteristic of the creations of the glassmaker Théodore Legras factory. These large baluster-shaped vases are perfectly representative of Art Nouveau design, combining curved lines and floral motifs. Note the particularly refined decoration of the necks, with gilded plant lines enhanced with small white enamel dots, which, like small precious stones, evoke lily-of-the-valley bells. François-Théodore Legras (1839-1916), left his native Vosges at the age of 24 to become a worker at the Saint-Denis glassworks. In just a few years, he became the manager and had a new factory built in 1866. His ambition. Modernize and expand production in order to make Beauty accessible to as many people as possible. His enameled vases, luxury objects less expensive than the vases of his contemporaries Gallé and Daum, perfectly illustrate this philosophy. Legras glassware was sold by catalog and met with great success. Legras production, regularly awarded prizes at international exhibitions between 1880 and 1900, declined after the First World War and finally ceased in 1960. Condition: Very good, only some wear to the gold.
