Charming tripod stool made of light solid wood, which can easily have its height adjusted by turning the seat, as it is fixed onto a threaded cylinder. It was also referred to as a painter's, sculptor's, or watchmaker's stool. Originally an auxiliary seat, it can also serve as a lovely end table, bedside table, or plant stand. This one is likely from the 80s or 90s, given the three hexagonal head screws. It is in generally good condition, solid and stable, the seat turns easily, but it does show some signs of wear: small stains and various marks. Additionally, there is a screw in the centre of the seat that is different from those in the base; I believe it is not original (there is also a trace of glue under the seat), probably to reinforce the original support of the seat in the threaded cylinder. Indeed, having had several of these stools, from the same era or older, the support is usually provided by a wooden wedge between the seat and the cylinder, which often leaves a slight play between the two pieces. Perhaps the previous owner wanted to eliminate this play. Nonetheless, there remains a very slight play here, but it does not hinder its use, nor its stability for use as a plant stand or end table, which I actually recommend, as this type of stool, except for very old and sturdy models, is not intended for daily use in my opinion; it remains an auxiliary stool. The seat measures 29 cm in diameter with a thickness of 2.5 cm. The base forms a triangle of approximately 38 cm per side, and the height can be adjusted between 47 cm (at its lowest) and about 67 cm at its highest.
