BBPR “Ro” table lamp, Artemide, 1963

BBPR "Ro" table lamp for Artemide, 1963. Polished chrome and ribbed pressed glass. Rare piece by the celebrated Milanese studio. Excellent vintage condition. Designed in 1963 for Artemide, the "Ro" looks both backward and forward. The wide, flat chrome disc shade and the ribbed pressed glass inner diffuser recall the formal vocabulary of Art Deco, while the use of industrial pressed glass and the precision of the chrome work place it firmly in the production culture of the early 1960s. The fluted glass cone filters the light before it reaches the reflective chrome above; the result is a warm, diffused glow directed downward onto the work surface, with a soft dome of light emerging from the top centre of the shade. This example is in excellent vintage condition with minimal patina and signs of use. Both glass elements — the ribbed inner diffuser and the small dome at the top — are intact.
