Cast iron umbrella stand coat rack, by A. Corneau, Charleville brothers - late 19th century. Important to check the stamp on any other possible proposal. Large Art Nouveau cast iron coat rack composed of 7 hooks and a mirror, signed Alfred Corneau (1825-1886) Charleville brothers and bearing the number 15. The Corneau brothers, master ironworkers, created a foundry company in 1846 - Charleville brothers - specializing in ornamental cast iron, as well as the first household comfort objects. Copied throughout the world, the talented Alfred Corneau designed creations combining aesthetics and know-how. This umbrella stand coat rack, a souvenir of a certain art of living, has a single hook at the top and six double hooks on its sides, perfect for hanging hats, jackets and coats. In the center, an oval mirror surrounded by a garland of pearls can be tilted at will. Embellished with floral ornamentation, the elegantly shaped backsplash is topped with a basket of sculpted flowers. The lower part forms a large umbrella stand. The arabesques blend with the leaves up to the oblong base decorated with flowers and fitted with a white cast iron tray.
