Art Deco buffet by Saddier & Fils in solid rosewood and veneer.

Art Deco sideboard by Saddier & Fils in solid rosewood and rosewood veneer. Finished with a hand-rubbed varnish. Handles and hardware in solid brass. Characteristic work of F. and G. Saddier for this sideboard with tiered crenellated legs, adorned with slightly raised floral motifs. Signed with the manufacturer's metal plate "Saddier et ses Fils". Circa 1925-1930. Dimensions: L 150 cm x D 50 cm x H 98.5 cm with a pediment height of 128.5 cm. Interior shelves: L 52 x D 44 cm / interior height 2 x 40 cm / top drawer: L 29 x D 43 x H 11.5 cm / bottom drawer: L 29 x D 43 x H 16 cm. The sideboard is in very good condition, with just three small scuffs on the corner of the pediment, the right side panel, and the rear right corner (see detailed photos). Meticulous packaging in three layers (see photos). For a bit of history: Gaston and Fernand Saddier started in the early 1920s with their eponymous furniture factory, Saddier et ses Fils, which they inherited from their father. Saddier et ses Fils exhibited their furniture at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in Paris in 1925. The company Saddier et Fils, specialising in art furniture, seating, and decorations, was based in Paris at 29-31 rue des Boulets, in the well-known cabinetmaker district of Saint-Antoine. An album, preserved at the Museum of Decorative Arts - 107 Rue de Rivoli 75001 Paris, showcases six photographs of the works of the Saddier company, including furniture designed specifically for the Palais de la Porte Dorée - 293 Av.
