Brushed stainless steel lamp attributed to bertrand ballas, for raak, composed of two half-spheres separated by a hollow central band and topped with a large white vertical lampshade. This work produced in the 70s is a perfect representation of space age design. An exceptional piece that will definitely mark your interior. Its little extra: you can choose 3 different lighting options. Did you know. Bertrand balas, born in toulouse in 1935, began his career as a designer in 1962. Initially on an internship in paris, he quickly returned to his hometown to become an architect and decorator. It was in 1965 that he met the raak company, which would later publish these lighting creations. He will be particularly recognized for his “here comes the sun” collection. Maison raak, a lighting manufacturer, was founded in 1954 by carel o. Lockhorn in the netherlands. Working first for philips in eindhoven, she then opened a store in amsterdam to create sophisticated, elegant and futuristic lighting designs, in glass or metal. The house collaborates with major international designers and architects. In 1974, lockhorn sold the company but remained director until 1977. He then helped develop the "space age" style. In 1999, the company joined the center for light architecture in drachten. Style: space age / scandinavian / contemporary / industrial / design / vintage observations: very good condition - this vintage, period item may show some wear or patina, such as light scratches, light oxidation and other signs of normal use.
