Rare large Uchiwa Hana chandelier in very good condition. This chandelier was professionally restored, and a restoration report is available. Designed by Ingo Maurer for M Design, Germany. The Uchiwa Hana chandelier is a masterful example of Ingo Maurer’s explorations into light, craft, and cultural reference. Inspired by the traditional Japanese 'uchiwa' fan, Maurer translated that subtle form into an ethereal lighting fixture. Made from bamboo, fabric, and Japanese Washi paper. The Uchiwa series required a high degree of hand-worked detail, with specialist craftsmen in Japan making the fans and the lighting bodies assembled in Munich. The height suspension system (three cords) allows for height adjustment and fine balancing. Materials: bamboo cane structural elements, Japanese rice paper ('washi') fans, under-diffuser in fabric, and fine rope suspension wires. When illuminated, the chandelier becomes a sculptural presence, with rice-paper fans glowing warmly and casting delicate shadows. Suitable for dining tables, foyers, or seating zones, it provides a quiet ceremony to an interior.
