2 x nightstand / matching chair by Kuperus / model Horatio / 1960s

Mid-century very rare overpainted nightstands and matching chair by Kuperus, model called 'Horatio', featured in the 1964 'Goed Wonen' magazine, catalogue, page 60. The fine teak material perfectly complements the thin black metal frames, creating a floating, light appearance. The clean, angular shapes are symbolic of post-war European design, reflecting the new era of Danish style inspired furniture. During the sixties, Dutch company Kuperus was clearly influenced by the designs of Auping (Carrelle series), Cees Braakman, Pastoe (Japanese series), and Hans Wegner. Overpainted.
