This flush mount ceiling lamp was manufactured by Mazzega in Murano, Italy, during the 1960s. Its design evokes a stylised palm tree with six large curved leaves. Each leaf is hand-blown in textured Murano glass with delicate pinkish reflections and mounted on a golden brass structure, combining the sculptural quality typical of Murano lighting of the era with the warmth of golden metal. The lamp is in excellent condition and works perfectly. Its six E14 sockets work properly for screw bulbs up to 60 watts each. Its diameter of 62 cm and compact height of 22 cm make it ideal for a dining room, foyer or living room with high ceilings, where the palm leaf shape presents itself as a sculptural centrepiece rather than just a functional light fixture. Ceiling lamps of this type belong to the tradition of figurative Murano glass lighting of the 1960s, highly appreciated by collectors of mid-century Italian design for their glass craftsmanship and sculptural presence.
