Antique Polychrome Plaster Statue of the Young Jesus, Belgium, 1900

An antique painted plaster statue of the young Jesus, made in Belgium around 1900. He wears a cream robe with gold-coloured decoration and holds an open book, standing on a green rocky base. The soft colours and the calm, serene expression give the statue a gentle and devotional character. A decorative piece of religious art for a mantelpiece, a shelf or a cabinet, alone or as part of a collection. Condition: small paint chips on the chest and the base, worn paint under the base.
