Biot vase in blue bubbled blown glass, design 2000, signed Arnold

This superb vase is made of dark blue bubbled glass and dotted with colored glass inclusions. It is a work by contemporary glassmaker Arnold Cognet dating from the 1990s-2000s. It is mouth-blown using an artisanal technique characteristic of the Biot glassworks. At the base, you can see the trace of the breaking of the cane to blow the glass. Arnold Cognet trained at the glass school in Moulins, in central France, and obtained his glassmaker diploma there in 1989. He quickly joined the Biot glassworks company to complete his training by learning the bubbled glass technique. He worked in Biot for 15 years, until 2005 when he took over the Montauroux glassworks and created his art studio. This vase is signed "ARNOLD - BIOT 2001". In good condition, this vase measures 15.5 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter.
