Two Gien soup plates – "Strasbourg" model – 18th century inspiration: elegant and timeless, these two soup plates by Gien feature the "Strasbourg" floral design, a motif directly inspired by the creations of the Strasbourg earthenware factory in the 18th century (Hannong family). On a bright white background with a slightly scalloped plate edge enhanced with a raspberry border, delicately painted bouquets bloom: roses, cornflowers, wild roses and foliage blend gracefully, recalling the art of low-fire glazing dear to the master earthenware makers of the time. In this Gien version from the 1960s–1970s, the design retains the freedom and freshness of the historical model while benefiting from the quality of the enamel and the finesse of manufacturing specific to the Gien house. These pieces, perfect for a chic and convivial table, can also be displayed as a decorative element. Their chic vintage style fits just as well with a classic interior as with a refined country ambiance. Gilded Gien France Strasbourg stamp: the stamp allows us to date them from the 60s-70s. Diameter 24 cm. In good vintage condition, minimal signs of use on the edges, no chips or cracks, very shiny. When the heritage of 18th century earthenware meets the Gien know-how of the 60s, the table is adorned with a rare elegance.
