Superb piece well known among design enthusiasts, this so-called foldable armchair (as the seat adjusts thanks to an ingenious system) is a classic from the 1950s, produced by DAVID FRERES, which was then located in Marseille. "The most beautiful furniture from the South!" proclaims the Marseille-tourism website. It showcases the sumptuous building that was once the headquarters of this institution, which began in the 19th century. Our armchair rests on solid oak splayed legs, giving it a distinguished and assertive look. At the front, a metal mechanism allows the seat to tilt and then be raised. It is then slid back, and the two original screws protruding are secured into the small sculpted niche in the armrests designed for this purpose. Not only does the armchair gain about ten cm in height, but it also activates the spring effect of the backrest, which then leans slightly backward under the weight of our back. In just a few moments, we transition from a dynamic sitting position to a much more relaxed one. A true delight. The upholstery has just been completely redone by a professional, in a velvet fabric that respects the original identity of the piece. It is therefore in perfect condition. There are some usual signs of wear on the oak structure, but this armchair is in excellent overall condition. Stable, solid, original, and with a perfectly functioning system. L: 57 cm. D: 62 cm. Height at the back in the high position: 85 cm. Compared to 75 in the low position. Low seat: 40 cm. High seat: 50 cm. The price is firm, thank you. Delivery possible in UDF for 40 euros.
