Presentation plate on pedestal Bernardaud Limoges – Art Deco – A711

Elegant low presentation plate on a pedestal made of fine Limoges porcelain, signed by the prestigious house L. Bernardaud & Cie (stamped B&Co on the back). This piece, dating from the Art Deco period (circa 1930), bears the guarantee label "Limoges Unique". It is adorned with the refinement characteristic of this service: a navy blue and gold geometric frieze enhanced with charming garlands of roses. Its low height makes it the perfect and very chic support to showcase a cake, tarts, or pastries as a centrepiece. Very good overall condition. No chips, cracks, or hairlines. The porcelain is nicely shiny. Note a very slight and discreet fading in places on the outer rim, normal for its age and indicative of its authenticity. Diameter 23.2 cm. Height 5 cm. Weight: 600g. Explanations on the stamps: B & Co / LIMOGES FRANCE (in green): This is the white trademark of Bernardaud (B & Co for Bernardaud and Company), actively used since the early 20th century. LIMOGES FRANCE UNIQUE (in green): This green stamp corresponds to the mark of the Union Porcelainière. Registered in 1929, this "Limoges Unique" label guaranteed the authenticity and quality of 100% Limoges production. TACHET / QUINCAILLERIE / THIERS (in pink): This is the commercial mark of the retailer of the time. Hardware stores and large provincial department stores of this period often had a "Tableware" section and had luxury tableware they ordered from Limoges stamped in the name of their own shop (here, the Tachet Hardware Store located in Thiers in the Puy-de-Dôme). Thanks to the intersection of these stamps, we can precisely date the manufacture of this piece between 1929 and the 1930s/1940s. Good to know: Other pieces from this magnificent Bernardaud & Cie service (dinner plates, soup plates, dessert plates, serving dishes, and compotes) are currently available in my shop.
