Dr. Pascaud's surrepos armchair brown, paris, 1927 the "surrepos" by dr. Pascaud. Was made in paris, france in 1927. The frame is made of natural beech, covered with horsehair and upholstered in a beautiful garnet red velvet in very good condition. The wooden wheel at the foot allows the back and seat to be adjusted. The chair was designed and created with movable armrests in order to be able to get in and out easily. This design was a source of inspiration for le corbusier and charlotte perriand when they worked on the lc4 their idea of creating a continuously adjustable chaise longue, which eventually gave birth to their famous "chaise longue basculante" in tubular steel in 1928. Charlotte perriand threw herself enthusiastically into this challenge. Inspired by a medical chair, the "sur-repos" of dr. Pascaud, she imagined a seat with a tubular steel structure, a material that was both robust and flexible. This structure offered an unprecedented freedom of form, making it possible to create a seat that was both aesthetic and ergonomic.
