French table lamp by Maison Le Dauphin, model “Caraïbes”, dating from the 1970s–80s. Its decoration consists of a red gorgon encased in a thick block of black and translucent epoxy resin. The block is mounted on a brass structure, which rests on a black lacquered wooden base. The inclusion remains visible on the edges of the block, enhancing the depth of the decoration. An original label under the base identifies the model “Caraïbes”. The lamp is presented with a new white cotton shade. The shade is not original. Maison Le Dauphin, founded in France in the 1960s, specialised in decorative lighting combining brass, glass, resin, ceramics, and natural materials.
