Late 19th early 20th century for this very original soup plate from the faïencerie de gien. The capucine model with the flowers and leaves of nasturtiums richly adorning the plate enhanced with a floral border. Very pretty deep blue/grey shade. Stamped “porcelaine opaque de gien – groseille”, estimated production late 19th early 20th century. Each plate tells a story: that of a know-how born in the heart of the loire, in the workshops of gien, founded in 1821 and renowned for their high-quality opaque porcelain. The old glaze, slightly cracked, adds to their period charm an authentic patina, witness to the tables of yesteryear. Some signs of wear over time, patina related to age but still very shiny. Unfortunately four chips present under the underside of the plate but barely visible when the plate is placed. A plate more than a hundred years old that has lived! Diameter: 24 cm, height 3 cm.
