Vase pique flowers monochrome blue decoration

This pretty ball-shaped vase is a production of coimbra ceramics, known for their decorations of scenes of nature of a deep blue: here a beautiful bird, a hare, a panther or lioness on a floral background and vegetable friezes. It is a unique piece entirely executed by hand, signed and documented by the artist. The production of coimbra, a city in northern portugal, dates back to the 16th century and since then has included ceramics generally using cobalt blue in monochrome tones.
