This lithograph is an edition based on an original gouache of Metamorphoses by Georges Braque in 1963, and reproduced on page 99 of the book "The Metamorphoses of Braque", by Heger de Loewenfeld and Raphael de Cuttoli, FCC Editions, Paris, 1989. The Metamorphoses take their name from the three-dimensional transposition of a series of 113 gouaches made for this purpose by Braque at the end of his life. The ensemble is under the aegis of the gods and goddesses of mythology.
