17th-century French oak refectory table / trestle table – 240 cm
€8,500
Rare 17th-century French trestle table in solid oak, a true refectory table. Such long tables were used for meals in monasteries in the Middle Ages and later became feast and banquet tables in castles and aristocratic houses. The thick 2.40-metre oak top rests on two crossed trestles joined by a long stretcher. The table has 19th-century restorations and can easily be taken apart, which makes transport and placement easier. Good condition with signs of use and patina consistent with age; can be dismantled.
