Few lamps change as much when you turn them on as this Scandinavian pine pendant. In daylight, it appears as a handsome cylinder of natural wood, constructed from upright pine slats, each featuring a carved row of circles linked by a slim central line, resembling beads on a thread. The honey-toned grain, the sculpted depth of the carving, and the patterned fabric visible through the open bottom all contribute to its thoughtful, handmade character. Once lit, the lamp comes alive. Light filters through the cut-out rings and grooves, casting a warm glow into the room while the shade itself glows like a lantern. It is a truly striking sight. Pendants like this, with a carved geometric pattern and a fabric-lined interior, are typical of Scandinavian craftsmanship from the 1960s and 70s, when designers and makers combined natural materials with bold graphic shapes in everyday household objects, executed with real care. The lamp is in superb condition. The pine is whole and undamaged, with every carved circle intact and no cracks, chips, or missing parts. The original diffuser is included and also perfect, and the fabric lining inside is in excellent shape. Fully working, fitted for an E27 bulb.
