Rare chair model "sb16" by cees braakman for pastoe, 1950s. Often confused with the sb02, the latter is entirely made of birch, while the latter is in teak plated finish. "in 1948, cees braakman (1917/1995) followed in his father's footsteps as a sales manager and designer. During a study trip to the united states, he became acquainted with the pioneering curved plywood furniture of charles and ray eames." (source: www.pastoe.com) This chair is a reinterpretation of charles and ray eames' famous dsw. In very good vintage condition, with some traces of use on the base. The backrest and the seat have been reprocessed, a graft of plating has been carried out on the backrest, rather inconspicuous. Very nice overall appearance. Dimensions: width: 47cm, depth: 50cm, height: 82cm, seat height: 45cm. Bibliography: Pastoe catalogue 1957/58 and 1959.
