Created in the heart of the 1960s, this sculptural bowl is a perfect testament to the brutalist movement applied to the arts of fire. It captivates with the magnetic intensity of its colour palette and its bold aesthetic choice, based on the contrast of materials. With a height of 9 cm and a wide diameter of 35 cm, the piece reveals a remarkable play of textures. The inner basin is covered with a thick glaze of deep, vibrant blue, whose shades evoke precious stones. The wide rim is adorned with an elegant network of natural cracks in the glaze. This technique, resulting from a perfectly controlled firing process, adds a true soul to the object. In contrast to this brilliant shine, the underside of the bowl presents a deliberately raw, rocky, and mineral appearance, typical of Northern European creations from this period. The piece also bears an incised signature in the raw material under the base (including the mention "straat"), attesting to an authentic and unique work from a Flemish or Dutch workshop. A decorative object with a strong character, in excellent condition, ideal for adding a mineral and colourful touch to a contemporary interior.
