This exquisite hand-crafted Scandinavian stoneware bowl by Andersson & Johansson, Höganäs, features traditional Swedish folk art motifs in cream-white against a rich terracotta-brown background. Inspired by the Kurbits painting tradition, the bowl showcases whimsical floral designs and intricate decorative elements, finished with a glossy transparent glaze that enhances its vibrancy. Its bold modernist shape and sculptural quality make it a standout piece. Designed by John Andersson (1899-1969), it includes two holes on the foot ring for wall hanging but also looks stunning displayed on a table or shelf. Marked on the underside with stamps reading "Höganäs" and the Andersson & Johansson logo (used from 1920 to 1958), this handmade bowl is a testament to Swedish craftsmanship. Founded in 1909, Andersson & Johansson produced colorful utility and decorative items, including iconic designs by John Andersson. The company underwent several name changes and mergers, eventually becoming part of the Iittala Group in Finland in 2008.
