A lamp that captures the spirit of Swedish mid-century design in a single glance. This Model Art 16 by Ringus combines a steel blue lacquered metal shade and base with a warm teak stem and a flexible brass fittings and gooseneck arm — a material combination that was very much of its moment in 1950s Sweden, and that has lost none of its appeal in the decades since. The conical shade sits atop the brass gooseneck at a jaunty angle, its rim punctuated by a row of neat rectangular slot perforations that cast a subtle pattern of light when the lamp is on. The turned teak stem provides a natural warmth that sits beautifully between the cool blue of the lacquered metal and the gleam of the brass fittings, while the round blue base keeps the whole composition grounded and cohesive.Ringus was a Swedish lighting manufacturer active during the 1950s and 1960s, producing a range of well-crafted lamps that reflected the clean, functional aesthetic of the period. While less internationally documented than some of the larger Swedish lighting houses, their work is consistently characterised by good proportions, quality materials, and that particular combination of practicality and charm that defines the best of Swedish mid-century domestic design. The lamp is in good vintage condition, showing some minor signs of wear consistent with its age. The gooseneck arm allows the shade to be positioned freely in any direction. E27 light bulbs.
