Fireplace bench

Fireplace bench from the Basque country and called "zuzulu". This bench had the dual function of warming up in front of the fire, but it was also on the "zuzulus" that "important" business was transacted (sale of livestock or land, marriages, etc.) in the countryside, hence the presence of the traditional folding table in the middle. 19th century fir bench, very good condition and beautiful original patina. Structure reinforced underneath by small metal brackets (see photos), it is not the prettiest of restorations but we found it that way, the brackets are not visible (except by crawling under the bench!) and DIY enthusiasts who wish can replace them with small wooden cleats without difficulty if necessary. Clean and healthy set bearing the logical marks of time and use but totally functional and usable as is. It will appeal to lovers of traditional furniture which we feel has a soul and is full of life. Ready to use, it can find its place in any modern or old interior style without any prior restoration.
