Stoneware Water Butter Dish – Rustic French Crafts

This water butter dish, also known as a Breton butter dish or preserving butter dish, allows you to store butter at room temperature while keeping it fresher for longer, thanks to an ingenious natural sealing system. It consists of two parts: a bell in which the butter is packed, and a reservoir to be filled with fresh water. By turning the bell, the water creates an airtight seal preventing air from passing through. Each piece is hand-thrown in chamotte stoneware with terracotta shades, with subtle variations in ivory glaze.
