Original Japanese tansu from the Taishō period, designed as a vertical domestic storage unit, featuring a rich and balanced composition with sliding doors, drawers, and open compartments. The upper section is equipped with sliding doors, one of which incorporates a decorative translucent panel allowing light to pass through and visually lightening the volume. The central area houses a row of functional drawers, while the lower part combines open niches, doors, and drawers of various sizes, following a flexible and rational usage logic typical of early 20th-century Japanese furniture. Primarily made of Japanese cedar (sugi), the piece retains a warm and deep patina, with uniform wear, softened edges, and colour variations consistent with its age. The original metal fittings, in dark iron, show natural ageing that is perfectly integrated. A piece with strong architectural presence and great storage capacity, ideal as a vertical sideboard, storage unit, or focal point in contemporary, wabi-sabi, japandi, or eclectic interiors. It is in excellent condition, except for the characteristic imperfections of any antique, due to the passage of time.
