Magnificent set consisting of two chairs of honor and a footrest in solid cedar wood, handcrafted in the purest ancient tradition of nuristan in afghanistan with woven leather upholstery. Period: xixth. Circa: 1885 – 1890. Dimensions: armchair 1: height: 92, 5cm X width: 55cm X depth: 54. Dimensions: armchair 2: 88cm X width: 53cm X depth: 50cm. Dimensions: footrest: height: 22cm X width: 43cm X depth: 42, 5cm. These chairs of honour have two adjoining backrests. The posts are carved with turned feet, section holding the square backrests, surmounted by turned and carved finials. The three uprights are carved on all sides with various disc patterns and geometric patterns. Similar patterns on the two back panels of nuristan in afghanistan. The seats of the chairs and footrest are made of tightly meshed leather straps. It is extremely rare at present to find handcrafted pieces in a very good condition, our workshops only had to carry out a light cleaning to revive the wood and dusted the leather straps.
